Bollywood, as the film industry of India is know, will take place this 2016 in the city of Madrid, for the awards of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA), which many identify as the South Asian equivalent of Oscar awards.
This stellar celebration of Indian cinema, is held every year in different international locations with the main purpose to reach their millions of fans and this time the locals enjoy it in the front row and a few steps in IFEMA Madrid.
This time, for the celebration of the 17th edition of the IIFA awards, absolutely all the Bollywood industry will move to the facilities of the institution consortium Institución Ferial de Madrid (IFEMA) to give the evening of June 25 a show that promises to cover not only the world of cinema, but also music, culture and Indian fashion. IIFA is not only related to the awards, they promote a huge amount of business activities that benefit both countries, because due to this year 2016 marks six decades of diplomatic relations between Spain and India. They have planned a lot parallel activities in which a renowned actress who will host a festival of yoga in the streets, will also feature a celebration of Holi, with henna artists, Indian dances and an Indian street food featuring with stands with special offers. This year IIFA also participates in the Mulafest 2016 festival, also held in IFEMA from June 24th to 26th.
Timmins, head of the event, informed that the choice of Madrid is due to, among other factors, the opportunity to come closer to Spanish speaking audiences, one of the biggest on the planet.
