TANDEM Cultural Program: Visit to the house of San Isidro and Museo de los Orígenes

Madrid celebrates the festivities of its patron saint. The best occasion to visit his home/museum, where he lived and died in the 11th century. However, the current building was rebuilt in the first half of the 16th century by the Lujanes family.
The permanent exhibition offers a selection of pieces from “Origins of Madrid”, dedicated to the archeology of Madrid and the history of the city from prehistory to the transfer of the Court of Philip II in 1561. You will have the chance to see the “pozo del milagro” (miraculous well) as well as the origins of Madrid since prehistoric times. Featuring the valuable collections from the old Institute Archaeological and Municipal Museum. There is also a wider collection of pieces, and in the archaeo botanical garden, next to the Bishop’s Chapel, with selected data on species cultivated in the city in the past.
